The higher education system in France is made up of both Universities and Grandes Écoles. Engineering is mainly studied in the “Grandes Écoles ” which have selective admission procedures and specific degree structures.
The French Grandes Écoles are institutions of higher education providing education in the fields of engineering or business and management. The degrees are awarded after five years of post “Baccalauréat” (secondary school degree) study. The degrees are accredited by the French Ministry of Higher Education.
The “Diplôme d’Ingénieur” is a national degree which entitles its holder to apply to a doctoral programme.
